2022 Mailing of 2021 Form 531 Local Earned Income and Net Profits Tax Return

As in prior years, the FCATB will be mailing the 2021 Form 531 Local Earned Income and Net Profits Tax Return and related instructions to the taxpayers of the member political subdivisions who 1) have filed with the FCATB in the prior year(s), 2) have had local income tax remitted on their behalf to the FCATB by their employers or another tax office, or 3) have filed 2021 estimated payments with the FCATB.  While the mailing was planned for mid-January, our production vendors have experienced supply chain issues delaying the mailing.  We will update this post with the anticipated mailing date when available.

Please note that the form and instructions that will be mailed can be printed from the Individual Tax Forms link at the left.

2021 Earned Income Tax Filing Deadline

January 14, 2022

The Franklin County Area Tax Bureau (FCATB) generally follows the decisions of the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue (PA DoR) regarding the personal income tax filing deadline.  While the usual tax return filing deadline is April 15, as of the morning of the date above, the PA DoR has not yet published the 2021 Personal Income Tax Forms including forms and related instructions containing the deadline at https://www.revenue.pa.gov/FormsandPublications/FormsforIndividuals/PIT/Pages/default.aspx#.

Since the FCATB 2021 Individual Form 531 Local Earned Income and Net Profits Tax Return and related instructions were due to production well in advance of the PA DoR publishing its due date in the documents at the above-referenced website, the FCATB issued its form with a due date of April 15, 2022 but will process returns in accord with the PA DoR deadline.
