Service at FCATB
Taxpayers may drop off tax returns and associated documentation and other correspondence in our drop box provided outside of our entry. If you wish to make a cash payment, please DO NOT utilize the drop box for remittance and use the drive-thru or counter instead.
Taxpayers may utilize the drive-thru at the right side of the building as you face the building from 8:00am - 4:00pm, Monday - Friday.
The Franklin County Area Tax Bureau provides counter service to the general public as follows:
* FCATB is closed Saturdays, Sundays, certain holidays, and Fridays from 7/16/2021 - 8/27/2021, inclusive.
To allow for social distancing, a maximum of three customers will be allowed in the lobby area at one time. Two persons may receive counter service at either one of the outer two counter stations and one person may wait in the designated area in the lobby. The middle counter station will not be used for counter service.
While waiting for or receiving counter service, please adhere to the following:
- maintain a distance of at least 6 feet from other individuals
- cover coughs or sneezes with a sleeve or elbow
Earned Income Tax Filing and Estimated Payments Deadlines

The Franklin County Area Tax Bureau (FCATB) generally follows the decisions of the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue (PA DoR) regarding personal income tax filing deadlines and due dates of estimated payments.
As such, the deadline for taxpayers to file their 2020 local earned income tax returns and make final 2020 earned income tax payments is extended to May 17, 2021 from April 15, 2021. The FCATB will waive penalties and interest on final 2020 earned income tax returns and payments through the new deadline of May 17, 2021 if the taxpayer files on or before May 17, 2021.
This extension does NOT apply to estimated income tax payments including those estimated payments due on April 15, 2021. Those taxpayers making estimated income tax payments should continue to follow the usual filing schedule.
The extension also does NOT apply to employer remittances.

The tax office was formed in 1975 to provide cost savings and efficiency in collecting local earned income and local services taxes. We have grown from our original 1975 membership of one school district and four municipalities to the current membership of five school districts and twenty municipalities.
