Franklin County Area Tax Bureau (FCATB) Fax Line is Currently Out of Service
While the telephone line ported successfully to the new phone system at 207 Grant Street, FCATB continues to experience problems with the fax line. Therefore, at this time and until further notice, rather than faxing documents, FCATB recommends mailing documents to the office. Thank you for your patience.
Franklin County Area Tax Bureau (FCATB) Office Relocation - Spring 2023
On 5/15/2023, the FCATB new office opens to the public at 207 Grant Street, Chambersburg PA 17201 with the office entrance being on North 2nd Street which is one-way heading north. The FCATB parking lot is accessbile via two driveways on North 2nd Street and is shared with the Franklin County buildings. This new location does not have a drive-through or a drop box, but counter service is available per below.
Beginning 5/10/2023, FCATB made arrangements with the United States Postal Service to forward to the new Grant Street location any mail addressed to the old location on Stanley Avenue for twelve months.
2022 Earned Income Tax Filing Deadline
The Franklin County Area Tax Bureau (FCATB) generally follows the decisions of the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue (PA DoR) regarding the personal income tax filing deadline. While the usual tax return filing deadline is April 15, the PA Dor published the 2022 Personal Income Tax Forms including forms and related instructions containing the deadline of April 18, 2023 at https://www.revenue.pa.gov/FormsandPublications/FormsforIndividuals/PIT/Pages/default.aspx#.
Since the FCATB 2022 Individual Form 531 Local Earned Income and Net Profits Tax Return and related instructions were due to production well in advance of the PA DoR publishing its due date in the documents at the above-referenced website, the FCATB issued its form with a due date of April 15, 2023 but will process returns in accord with the PA DoR deadline.

The tax office was formed in 1975 to provide cost savings and efficiency in collecting local earned income and local services taxes. We have grown from our original membership of one school district and four municipalities in 1975 to the current membership of five school districts and twenty municipalities.
